There were browsers that implemented both of these features when 3.0 was current. Unfortunately, popular browsers chose to implement proprietary tags instead of following existing implemtations of the draft. That they then marketed those led to their being touted as features of "better" browsers, and people in general swallowed this. There are proposals for most of the concrete HTML suggestions. It's a matter of getting browser implementors to actually put them in their browsers. <mike
