That is obvious, however in a large number of cases the selected pixel
is not important, only an area of pixels.  Therefore it would not
necessarily be unworkable because the pixel that was selected would
probably still be in the area when it was scaled back up.  Obviously if
the mapped areas were small it would still be a problem.
