HTML databse sofwtare program to interface

I am wondering if anyone out thereusing HTML knows of the existence of
adatbase program that can be used with a web homepage to do searching.

I need one that could seearch multiple fields. I need someone that knows a
lot about scripts ie. cgi/perl language.
