Re: National characters...again

One would have expected that HTML, from its very early days, would
have provided the construct
       <CHARSET="XXX"> ...any_8_bit_characters... </CHARSET>
where XXX could be Latin-2, Latin-3, Latin-4,...

For people who speak languages not supported in Latin-1, such a 
construct is absolutely vital if they are not to be excluded from
this wonderful new world of W3.

Surely, browsers could easily (at least for Latin-n) cope with this!
Come on now HTML and browser designers, help us Latin-n users out!!
