Bruce, As summer winds down, we're winding up to celebrate a banner year for the LGBT community with our Equality Awards gala on September 19th at the JW Marriott Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. It will be a special evening at which we will celebrate the successes of 2015, honor our heroes, and reflect on the fight ahead. Please join us! Tickets are on sale now here: https://secure.eqca.org/page/contribute/los-angeles-awards-tickets This year, we're pleased to honor award-winning journalist and self-described "fierce advocate for gay rights," Lisa Ling, who regularly features LGBT people, our triumphs, struggles and stories in her work, and who currently hosts the CNN documentary series, This is Life; businessman and non-profit founder Tom Steyer, whose philanthropy and political activism have made a significant and lasting impact in advancing health, wellbeing and social justice for LGBT people and all the communities of which we're a part; California Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, a staunch ally and supporter of the LGBT community who has earned a pro-equality rating of 100 percent on Equality California's Legislative Scorecard each year; and former EQCA board presidents Clarissa Filgioun and Cary Davidson, who led EQCA's civil rights work during a period of significant achievement for our community. Davidson will also receive EQCA's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of not only his service to Equality California, but to the Jewish community and numerous LGBT and progressive organizations. Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will be joining the celebration. This year's landmark marriage equality ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court caps decades of work by Equality California and our allied organizations, but our fight is not over. In California, transgender people are the target of yet another discriminatory ballot measure and, across the country, LGBT people can still be fired, evicted or denied service because they're LGBT. Help us continue the fight by purchasing a ticket or becoming a table captain or sponsor: https://secure.eqca.org/page/contribute/los-angeles-awards-tickets We can't do what we do without you. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you there! Rick Zbur Executive Director---- This email was sent to Www-Html-Editor@W3.Org. To unsubscribe, go to http://action.eqca.org/unsubscribe.
