1. The links to the <http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/interact/forms.html#edef-OPT ION> OPTION element at the section <http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/interact/forms.html#h-17.6> 17.6 The SELECT, OPTGROUP, and OPTION elements point to the section heading, which is misleading. They should point to the OPTION element definition instead. 2. The section <http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/appendix/changes.html#h-A.3. 9> A.3.9 Changes for forms does not mention <http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/interact/forms.html#adef-val ue-OPTION> the following innovation: If OPTION value is not set, the initial value is set to the contents of the OPTION element. The <http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html32.html#select> HTML 3.2 Reference Specification does not mention this at all. (The <http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/tabular.html#op tion> OPTION section of the HTML5 draft is not ready yet so it is uncertain what it would say). Microsoft Internet Explorer does not fulfill this recommendation.
