Given that XHTML 2.0 allows "value" <http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/WD-xhtml2-20050527/mod-list.html#adef_list_value> and there have been a lot of people pointing out that deprecating these attributes <http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/struct/lists.html#h-10.2> was a mistake the HTML WG should issue an errata to HTML 4.01 that makes them valid for the Strict DTD.
