I'm sorry if you've received this already. I may have forwarded it to you once before. I'm trying to blanket the Internet with this important message. I apologize if you've already received it once. Please read it and forward it to friends. PLEASE READ -- Artists for Daniel Faulkner THE STORY On December 9, 1981, Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner was murdered in the line of duty. His murderer, Wesley Cook, a.k.a. Mumia Abu-Jamal, was tried and convicted by a jury of 12 U.S. citizens on July 3, 1982. In the eighteen years since, more than a dozen judges presiding over numerous appeals have denied all motions to reverse the unanimous decision, due to the overwhelming evidence against Jamal -- yet this case has become one of the most publicized and distorted in history. Worse, while on Death Row, Jamal and his supporters have benefited from the sale of his two books and a number of major fundraising events and concerts, building their defense movement into a cash cow and a global propaganda machine. Jamal's supporters have turned a convicted murderer into a poster child for so-called "political oppression," by using blatant lies and distortions to paint him as a persecuted intellectual who was framed for a murder the evidence clearly shows he did, in fact, commit. A long list of Hollywood stars, famous musicians, radical academics and others has come down squarely on the side of murder by expressing unqualified support for Jamal -- all in the name of "social justice" -- and usually with no regard for the truth. Many of them have proudly stated that they never even bothered to read the trial transcripts. WHO WE ARE This letter was written by IMG recording artist Cloning Einstein, a contemporary pop musical group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (officer Daniel Faulkner's home town). With the support of a diverse, internationally acclaimed group of other concerned and talented artists, we recently launched our "Make a Difference Campaign," our effort to raise awareness for a variety of great causes, using our most powerful asset -- our music. We are not, nor are we affiliated with, a political organization of any kind. We're supporting this cause (Justice for Police Officer Daniel Faulkner), and we're writing this letter today, because we feel strongly that someone in the artistic community has to take a stand for truth in the Faulkner murder case. With the amount of press power that Jamal's supporters are able to wield, it's essential for good people everywhere to know the truth about this case, and make their own voices heard. On our Web site (use the link below), you'll find additional information, links, and resources about the Faulkner murder case (including the actual trial transcripts), along with all the details about our campaign.
