IE 4.5 Mac problems - ?

Hi,
Wondering why the source code  displays in my browser for the following 2
documents:

http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/
and 
http://www.w3.org/XML/

when viewed in IE4.5 on the Mac (OS 8.6)?

I can view them properly in IE 5 for Windows, (Windows 98).
