At the W3C's validator service, a little HTML fragment is provided, which HTML authors may use to mark their validated pages, should they wish. Unfortunately, adding it to a page which goes through the parser cleanly, renders the page erroneous, because the parser than will complain that the <IMG> tag has a disallowed attribute, "border." So the DTD may be wrong; the parser may be in error; or the CGI doing the validation may be in error; or the HTML code fragment which people are encouraged to copy and paste may be in error; or I may have made a silly mistake.
