Dear XForms Community, The current XForms 1.1 working draft is what we call a "thin spec". It describes the new features of XForms without including all of the text of the prior recommendation (XForms 1.0 Second Edition). Our next working draft of XForms 1.1 will be published shortly, and all of the new features for XForms 1.1 are nearly done. It is also a "thin spec". The working group expects that only one more "thin spec" working draft will be needed to complete our description of the new features in XForms 1.1. We expect to request publication of this working draft at the end of August prior to our next face-to-face meeting. After that, we will merge the content of the working draft with the material from XForms 1.0 Second Edition to produce the "full spec" working draft of XForms 1.1. We expect to request publication of this working draft at the end of September. Note that while the full spec working draft may contain many more pages than the preceding thin spec, this is not due to a drastic change of material. The "full spec" working draft will contain applied errata relative to XForms 1.0 Second Edition and the new features from the thin spec. Finally, since the "full spec" working draft will not contain any new features, there is a possibility that XForms 1.1 will be entered into last call status at the time of that publication. This will be decided at the upcoming face-to-face meeting. Best regards, John M.
