partly validation of xforms-data

hi there,

what i'd like to do is validate the instance data in case of an event caused by activating a trigger.
the situation is like this - 3 cases (switch)  with a trigger on each, to switch between cases. with switching, i as 
well would like to validate a certain part of the instance data (the one that is presented during one case). i tried 
submission with a ref as well as with binding, but neither would work.

i would apprecciate any help.
