That is certainly very useful. Apologies if I have missed something in the documentation, but if one submits a portion of an instance and sets the replace attribute to have a value of "instance", does just the part of the instance submitted get replaced? It's not for doing multiple levels of validation --though you could achieve that by having the different locations where the data goes to do different levels of validation.
