9.3.5 uses the terms index/location/position almost interchangeably and sometimes refers to a collection, sometimes a node-set. More consistency in terminology would be advantageous. I don't see it stated whether "index" is zero-start or one-start. I assume it is the latter but that should be stated. In addition the use of the "position" attribute to mean something quite different from position in XPath 1.0 at the same time as index is being used to mean something very similar to position is potentially unnecessarily confusing. Why is what is presently termed the "position" attribute not optional with a default behaviour specified? Andrew Watt
