I just checked that this is configurable during setup (see attached screenshot).

You may have selected it by mistake in the setup, having it selected
from a previous installation or even associated ".htm" manually using
the "Open with..." option in Windows Explorer: I can't reproduce this.

If you upgraded your previous install, didn't select the ".htm" and
Amaya didn't update its file association settings, than it may be a
bug. In my case, I've uninstalled the previous snapshot before
installing this one (11.3pre1) and didn't select that extension: my
".htm" files are opening with Firefox, as expected.

I guess you meant "too close" and I agree: I also hate software which
changes my settings without asking. ;-)
