Amaya 8.53, and previous versions, do not accept an empty ALT attribute (alt="") for images. A dialogue is displayed saying that "The Alternate text is mandatory". The HTML Spec and Section 508 (U.S.A. law) advices Web page authors to use an empty ALT attribute for images that do not contain information (i.e. decorative images). A space (& #032) is sometimes used as a value of ALT. But, if I remember correctly, it is an annoyance for some users. It is good that Amaya displays a warning (to educate authors and promote accessibility) when an alternate text is not specified. But, the alternate text should not be mandatory. Regards, Thomas Jedenfelt P.S. The Amaya Documentation does not mention an empty ALT attribute for images that is used as decoration. -- _______________________________________________ Search for products and services at: http://search.mail.com Powered by Outblaze
