Dear Amaya support: I've used Yum to install Amaya amaya-9.5-1.fc5 (the fc5 version which i obtained via http://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?submit=Search+...&query=amaya as per the suggestion at http://www.w3.org/Amaya/User/BinDist.html after installing this package however-- as done with Yum (terminal) KYum (KDE graphical) and YumEx-- ever time the aforementioned version of the file was installed, when i launched the application, it was the 8.8.5 version which would run. bizzare, i thought. actually, it wasn't until i was composing this message, and i asked myself "Have I tried every possible method before contacting the Amaya support at W3C?", that it occurred to me that i had NOT yet tried the link directly at http://www.w3.org/Amaya/User/BinDist.html . so, i installed that version (the fc3 version), and sure enough, i am now running Amaya 9.51 on Fedora Core 5. so, after much frustration and investigation, i am happy now. i thought perhaps you might want to provide some account of my experience so that others know what to expect. thank you! and thanks for the wonderful development tool! there's nothing else like it! :) --Jeff Sabarese http://NoviceNotes.net -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/
