I tried it on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 600m running Debian Sarge with
Gnome, and up-to date packages) but it crashed within 0.5 seconds.

After I removed the ~/.amaya/ directory and also ~/amaya-vivien but it
didn't help.
The 8.5 version provided by the debian servers is working great on my
computer.
