That's an abuse of the deprecated font attribute.  The correct way is 
to use &gamma; or &#946; (beta), which IE4.01 render correctly; Amaya 
1.3 Win32 deletes the former and displays the latter as superscript 
2, so is broken but not really in the respect indicated.
