FWIW, I thought we were going to build on longdesc by taking its architecture and refining the user experience. Is this still the plan? I'd like to know. I also think that whether it's this element, an ARIA element or SHE (Shiney-new-element) - a large part of the problem is on the human side. That is to say getting authors to use whatever the long descriptor mechanism is going to be. Cheers Josh
