Hello I’m trying to work out what WCAG says about best practice for video captions. Specifically, I want to know if video with hard-coded captions (sometimes called open captions I think) meets AA level. We try where possible to add captions as separate files. Sometimes this isn’t possible, and we will hard-code them onto the video (for use on social media). But I’m not sure that’s very accessible. I’ve spent a bit of time today looking for any information on this, if there’s anything in WCAG about this specifically I’d be grateful to know. Thanks, and keep up the good work 😊 Rayner Rayner Simpson | Web Content Editor School of Management, University of Bath Bath.ac.uk/management @bathsofm Pronouns: he/him/his
