Dear WAI editors, I am writing this to request you to update Indian accessibility policies related data on the page https://www.w3.org/WAI/Policy/Overview#India * <https://www.w3.org/WAI/Policy/Overview#India>Details:* - Country: INDIA - Legislation: Rights of Persons with Disabilities ACT, 2016 - This is an amendment to old Persons with Disabilities ACT, 1995 - Link to the ACT: http://www.disabilityaffairs.gov.in/upload/uploadfiles/files/RPWD%20ACT%202016.pdf - Indian Parliament has passed this legislation in December, 2016 - Ministry responsible: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment ( http://www.disabilityaffairs.gov.in/content/) - Department: Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities - This ACT ensures the following about information technology: - 42. The appropriate Government shall take measures to ensure that,— (i) all contents available in audio, print and electronic media are in accessible format; (ii) persons with disabilities have access to electronic media by providing audio description, sign language interpretation and close captioning; (iii) electronic goods and equipment which are meant for every day use are available in universal design.
