[ After I sent this note to wai@w3.org, I received a note from Shawn Henry, suggesting that I send it to this list, as well. Done. -r ] I spent some time looking for an easy introduction to WAI-ARIA, but didn't find much that seemed useful. I think more effort needs to be put into this area, so that potential users don't get discouraged. See below for details. -r The WAI-ARIA Overview (https://www.w3.org/WAI/intro/aria.php) says: "The WAI-ARIA Primer introduces developers to the accessibility problems that WAI-ARIA is intended to solve, the fundamental concepts, and the technical approach of WAI-ARIA. This document has been retired and replaced by WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices 1.1." The Authoring Practices document, containing 200 pages of reference material, is not anything like a suitable replacement for a primer. This document looked quite approachable, but it is dated (2008) and the image links are all broken: Introduction to WAI ARIA https://dev.opera.com/articles/introduction-to-wai-aria/ This document is only useful to Japanese readers: Easily Understandable WAI-ARIA (Japanese Edition) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016XKNV9M I did manage to find this Kindle book, which looks promising: Apps For All: Coding Accessible Web Applications https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N9UPI32 -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin rdm@cfcl.com http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume San Bruno, CA, USA +1 650-873-7841 Software system design, development, and documentation
