Looked at the video - that + sign is not appearing for me when I try to add a new vendor. Frustrating. -Howard ________________________________ From: Eric Eggert <ee@w3.org> Sent: Sunday, February 14, 2016 10:09 AM To: Howard Kramer Cc: Shadi Abou-Zahra; andrew.arch@digital.gov.au; wai-eo-editors@w3.org Subject: Re: [gallery] Component contribution volunteers [-AnnaBelle] On 13 Feb 2016, at 20:13, Howard Kramer wrote: Hi Shadi, I'm trying to enter some widgets but am running into a problem. If I try to add an item from an author not already present in the author drop-down list there's no way to add that author and that's a required field. Am I missing something? Hi Howard, yes, you’re missing something that is not very obvious. The add vendor button only appears when you hover over the vendor select box (on the right). Alternatively you can use the vendor view by clicking vendor in the left navigation. Eric the slacker is out on vacation, so I'm jumping in for him... As you know we're just about to finalize the QuickRef (fingers crossed) and need to get back to this work pretty quickly -- we really need your data entries to help design the gallery interface around a real dataset! As Eric mentioned, we need ~50-60 entries for the initial dataset to be useful. This means ~15-20 entries per person. Maybe best that each one of you takes one category like "templates", "widgets", or "frameworks", so that you don't overlap. In addition to the resources that Eric sent, I also came across these to help you get kick-started: - http://whatsock.com/tsg/ - http://heydonworks.com/practical_aria_examples/ - http://w3c.github.io/aria-in-html/ We need your input before Monday 22 February 2016 (whatever your time zone is) -- please let us know if you will not be able to complete your work by then, as this is getting really urgent now. Also let me know if you have any troubles or questions. And thanks again for all your work! Best, Shadi On 1.2.2016 13:12, Eric Eggert wrote: Hi all, I guess you had a chance to take a look. Now let’s get the submissions started. As I stated in the call on Friday, this is very important work that feeds into the design and development of the ”Gallery”. So, there are two tasks for you this week: 1. Search for frameworks, widgets, and templates and submit those to the “Gallery”. 2. Send an email to me when there is data that you’d like to enter but there is no field for it. Good places to start are pattern libraries, GitHub1<mostly%20widgets,%20I%0Aguess>, and theme directories2<mostly%20templates> but you probably have other places to look for, including tools you have used or considered using[3]. If you can, please make a preliminary accessibility check à la EasyChecks. Best, Eric [1] for example: https://github.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=accessible+dropdown [2] for example: https://wordpress.org/themes/tags/accessibility-ready/ [3] for me that would be: http://www.yaml.de/ On 21 Jan 2016, at 14:02, Eric Eggert wrote: [Note: Although this will end up in an public archived mailing list, at this stage we are unable to take submissions from the general public. A public call for contribution is sent out at a later stage.] Hi Anna Belle, Howard and Andrew, volunteers for the Components Gallery (or whatever the name will be in the end). It is good to have you three on board to get this going. First things first: I have created a rough document on the submission requirements for the gallery. Your feedback is very welcome. https://github.com/w3c/wai-components-gallery/wiki/Submission-criteria You should already be able to login to the tool using your W3C account here: https://www.w3.org/blog/wai-components-gallery/wp-admin/ You should find Frameworks, Templates and Widgets as content types (top level menu items) on the left. Tags, Vendors and Licenses are taxonomies and shared between the three content types. So if you want to submit a new widget, for example, navigate to the new widget page (”Widgets -> Add New”) and fill out the form. Feel free to try it out with dummy content if you like. If you come across a vendor or license that is not currently in the list(s), feel free to add them by hovering over the top-right corner of the sections with your mouse. A faint (+) button appears. Click it and you get an input field where you can specify a name. [I will make this properly accessible ASAP.] It should be pretty straight forward. If you have any questions, feel free to write me a mail and if needed we can specify a phone meeting early next week. Todo: * Familiarize yourself with the Wordpress instance, please report if you can’t see something (best with screenshot) or if you have other issues. The best place is Github, I think: https://github.com/w3c/wai-components-gallery/issues/new?title=[wp]<https://github.com/w3c/wai-components-gallery/issues/new?title=%5Bwp%5D> * Have a look at the “submission criteria” and feel free to send in suggestions for this as well. This will be continuously updated while we collect data for the tool, as we will get a better feeling on what we need to specify while collecting the data. https://github.com/w3c/wai-components-gallery/issues/new?title=[submission%20criteria]<https://github.com/w3c/wai-components-gallery/issues/new?title=%5Bsubmission%20criteria%5D> I hope this helps as a first information package.
