As part of drafting the use cases, Jim and I discussed how platform affects the mobile app. We have been discussing iOS having a zoom feature, when it actually only has zoom in web browsing, and not in apps unless the app developer made it that way. That sent me looking at increasing font sizes in the platform settings. With the cooperation of my husband (owner of an Android and a business Blackberry), we did a comparison of apps that supported the large font settings. iOS Increase font size to 32 pts Settings font change? No Email font change? No Messages font change? Yes Contact List? Yes (but not the detail page, the favorites list, or recent caller list) Calendar? No, but yes in the detail page Facebook app? No LinkedIn app? No Music player? No Android Increased font size to Large (Note: size Huge gave a warning it was not supported in all apps.) Settings font change? Yes Email font change? Yes Messages font change? Yes Contact List? Yes Facebook app? No LinkedIn app? No Music player? NA Blackberry Increased fontsize to 14 Settings font change? Yes Email font change? Yes Messages font change? Yes Contact List? Yes Calendar? Yes Facebook app? NA, but tried several other custom apps which did NOT support the font size change. LinkedIn app? NA Music player? NA
