Updating my proposal on zoom (http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-ua/2012AprJun/0027.html) to reflect the telecon discussion: 1.8.X: Zoom: The user can rescale content within graphical viewports as follows: (Level A) (b) Zoom-in: to at least 500% of the default size; and (a) Zoom-out: to at least 10% of the default size, or such that only one scrollbar is required. JR: Changed top to 500%. It has implementations in Chrome, IE and is more reasonable for a mobile browser. 1.8.Y: Reflowing Zoom: The user can request that when reflowable content in a graphical viewport is rescaled, it is reflowed, such that one dimension of the content can fit into the viewport without scrollbars. (Level AA) DEFINTION: Reflowable content: Content that can be arbitrarily wrapped over multiple lines. The primary exceptions reflowable content are graphics and video. Author instructions not to wrap content (e.g., nowrap) does not affect reflowability. Cheers, Jan > Two proposals re: Zoom: 1.8.X: Zoom: The user can rescale content within graphical viewports such that (Level A): (a) Lower rescale bound: The lower rescale bound is at least 10% or at least one dimension of the content can fit into the viewport without scrollbars. For text content, the language's text directionality will determine the dimension (e.g., horizontally oriented text should be rescaled such that horizontal scrollbars are not required). (b) Upper rescale bound: At least 1000%. 1.8.Y: Reflowing Zoom: The user can request that when content within a graphical viewport is rescaled, reflowable content is reflowed such that one dimension of the content can fit into the viewport without scrollbars (e.g., horizontally oriented text should be rescaled such that horizontal scrollbars are not required). (Level AA) Note: Limits to reflow include multi-media objects, words without spaces, and where the author prohibits wrapping.
