When responding to another e-mail and you have included text fragments from the previous e-mail, please indicate your comments using your initials and a colon after text fragement you are respondin too and before your response. This was a conventions suggested early in the WAI process. It was suggested that it helps make the E-mail responses more readible by people using screen readers, since they can search for comments. Especially when multiple responses are included.
