Firefox generally does a good job with search and focus. But one doesn't always know (or want to type in) the location they want to jump to. Sometimes Firefox will "find" hidden text somehow, sometimes you'll mistype the heading you're trying to get to, etc. A "skip to content" link is usually a much nicer choice for us.
