Theoretically, there be a tag to indicate a new language, but since there isn't, <span> will do (per Patrick Lauke's comment). With multiple languages using Western scripts, I might embed the lang="" attribute within an <i>/<em> or <b>/<strong> tag since these formatting cues are often added to visually indicate that the next word is in a foreign language. But none of these are semantically correct either. Hope this makes sense.
