Rich, There wer bugs in the treeview example in the December 14 heartbeat publication of the APG. Those examples are still in the review process. The latest versions in the editor's draft in github resolves the issues you were experiencing. If you do not find that to be the case, please raise an issue or comment in the existing feedback issue; there is a link to the feedback issue at the top.
