well I guess the equiv of WCAG - is now AG the equiv of WCAG Working Group — is AG Working Group we never tried to shorten Working group. (e.g. there was never WCAGWG or WCAGG) I guess the if we ever used WCAG WG it would now be AG WG but we never pronounced more than WCAG so we only need to figure out how to pronounce AG. Which is AG but perhaps the full name isnt long enough now (and AG sounds like agriculture) so I suspect people will just say the name Accessibility Guidelines Unless that is too vague so they say W3C Accessibility guidelines which is wha WAG? W3 AG? or…. no….. W3C AG (how is that for irony) At any rate it looks like WCAG —> AG WCAG WG —> AG WG which would be pronounced WCAG Working group —> AG Working Group Mooooo ? Maybe petition for a rename to Web Accessibility Working group - and then we are all WAGs gregg Gregg C Vanderheiden greggvan@umd.edu > > > Cell: 703-371-5545 | ryladog@gmail.com <mailto:ryladog@gmail.com> | Oakton, VA | LinkedIn Profile <http://www.linkedin.com/in/katieharitosshea/> | Office: 703-371-5545 | @ryladog <https://twitter.com/Ryladog> > > NOTE: The content of this email should be construed to always be an expression of my own personal independent opinion, unless I identify that I am speaking on behalf of Knowbility, as their AC Rep at the W3C - and - that my personal email never expresses the opinion of my employer, Deque Systems. > > From: Phill Jenkins [mailto:pjenkins@us.ibm.com] > Sent: Friday, January 27, 2017 11:32 AM > To: Katie Haritos-Shea GMAIL <ryladog@gmail.com> > Cc: 'WAI Interest Group' <w3c-wai-ig@w3.org>; help@can-adapt.com > Subject: Re: W3C membership and Director have approved the re-charter of the WCAG Working Group > > Yay and Congrats. > many IBMers have already joined. > > second order of business - how to pronounce ACWG? ack-waag or ace-wug or ace waag? > > Someone with phonetic skills needs to help us here. > > and of course we need to commission a song writer - remember wa wa wech gag? > Web Accessibility WCAG Theme Song - YouTube <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IWBT4Tk3t0> > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IWBT4Tk3t0 <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IWBT4Tk3t0> > @davidmacd > ___________ > Regards, > Phill Jenkins > pjenkins@us.ibm.com <mailto:pjenkins@us.ibm.com> > Senior Engineer & Accessibility Executive > IBM Research Accessibility > ibm.com/able <http://www.ibm.com/able> > facebook.com/IBMAccessibility <http://www.facebook.com/IBMAccessibility> > twitter.com/IBMAccess <http://ageandability.com/> > ageandability.com > > > > > From: "Katie Haritos-Shea GMAIL" <ryladog@gmail.com <mailto:ryladog@gmail.com>> > To: "'WAI Interest Group'" <w3c-wai-ig@w3.org <mailto:w3c-wai-ig@w3.org>> > Cc: <ryladog@gmail.com <mailto:ryladog@gmail.com>> > Date: 01/27/2017 10:04 AM > Subject: W3C membership and Director have approved the re-charter of the WCAG Working Group > > > > Dear WAI Interest Group, > > Great news for Accessibility: the W3C membership and our Director, Tim Berners-Lee, have approved the re-charter of the WCAG Working Group! > > However, under the new charter our name has officially changed.
