W3C Paper "Web Standards to Enable an Accessible and Inclusive Internet of Things (IoT)"

Dear WAI IG Participants,

We invite you to read and share this paper from W3C staff "Web Standards to Enable an Accessible and Inclusive Internet of Things (IoT)", which was published this week in the Proceedings of the 14th Web for All Conference (W4A 2017), and linked to here in the MIT archive: https://dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/107831.

See Shadi Abou-Zahra’s tweet about the article at: https://twitter.com/sabouzah/status/849152069688864768/

The Internet of Things is expected to have an unprecedented impact on our daily lives. In particular, “smart environments” will change how we interact with our surrounding and with each other, including at home, in public spaces, and at the work place. This provides an opportunity to ensure equal access for people with disabilities in IoT technologies.

Please consider joining the W3C’s APA Research Questions Task Force (https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/task-forces/research-questions/) where current and interesting topics like these are being discussed and researched.

To learn more about Internet of Things (IoT) through the Web of Things (WoT) see the W3C’s Web of Things page for use cases and resources at: https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Web_of_Things.

Please forward this notice to all whom you think may be interested.

Thanks!!
