RE: FAE Reports

Hi,
I'm a JAWS user, and I put my cursor on the text I think should be the label and use Insert + Shift + F1, which gives a listing of elements, starting at the inner-most one. That's usually reliable, since field labels are likely to be very close, physically,  to field controls.

Hi,
A quick way to test for the reliable use of the label element is to simply click on the form’s input field instruction (Name, Address etc.) with your mouse. If the cursor jumps into the correct input field then the label element has been applied correctly. If it does not jump into the input field either there is no label element, or it is not linked correctly (a common error).

Even when FAE was working in the old version I always used this trick to do my checking. It is quick, simple and does not require looking at the page source code.

I am happy to wait for Jon to complete his new version. It is (was) a lovely tool (and free!!). Sounds like the new one will be even better. Thanks Jon

We are working on an entirely new version of the extension using the OpenAjax ruleset for WCAG 2.0 conformance, we hope to have this new version out in the next month.

There are a number of problems with the current extension and instead of trying to fix the problems, we are putting our resources into a new version that is completely redesigned.

It will have significantly upgraded feature to improve color contrast and table accessibility testing.

Hopefully have a new version out by mid-October.

Hi,
I'm somewhat concerned, because I am now telling sighted people that these reports are objective evidence that we can show accurately when pages are broken, and when they are fixed. I need to get things back to working. I'm running Firefox 3.6. something or other. I didn't realize that the FAE works for newer versions of Firefox. Is it now safe to upgrade Firefox?

I have the same problem with the latest version. I don’t think it is us! It doesn’t do data tables well either. I wish I had never upgraded to Firefox 5.0

Hi,
For the Firefox Accessibility Extension Toolbar, is there an option that controls forms reporting? I'm somehow running it and it is not picking up the fact that the forms I'm making it evaluate do not have label tags. Maybe I turned something off.
