Hi, The last version of the "Référentiel général d’accessibilité pour les administrations" (RGAA) which defines the rules for accessibility of french public services Web sites, specifies number of requirements concerning PDF accessibility. See for instance test 10.13 of Annexe 2 (v2.2) (this is a PDF document, not sure it complies btw...). You can also see Annexe 1 (v2.2) in which PDF accessibility is often discussed. http://www.references.modernisation.gouv.fr/rgaa-accessibilite PDF documents can be used but they must comply to accessibility rules: headings structure, alternatives for images, coding of forms, etc. If they don't, you have to propose alternate accessible document (HTML). On the same philosophy, see the last version of AccessiWeb conformance verification method reference document: criteria 13.7 http://www.braillenet.org/accessibilite/referentiel-aw2/liste-deploye.php#st ructure AccessiWeb just published a few weeks ago the requirements for accessibility of office documents (applicable to all office formats): http://www.braillenet.org/accessibilite/documents/liste-criteres-documents-b ureautiques-telechargement-AW20.odt (format Open document) http://www.accessiweb.org/_repository/files/liste-criteres-documents-bureaut iques-telechargement-AW20.doc (format Word) Best regards --- Patrice Bourlon http://www.webaccessibilite.fr/ ________________________________________ De : w3c-wai-ig-request@w3.org [mailto:w3c-wai-ig-request@w3.org] De la part de Neil King Envoyé : mercredi 17 février 2010 03:22 À : w3c-wai-ig@w3.org Objet : PDF accessibility policies Hi All A favour to ask: I am trying to establish the international policy situation regarding the use of PDF files i.e. the current position in the UK, EU, US... As far as I am aware no countries explicitly state a requirement around the use of PDF as we do in Australia (http://www.hreoc.gov.au/disability_rights/standards/www_3/www_3.html#s2_3), that being the case I want to try and ascertain their current stance around accessible documents in general. Have you come across any policies or know where I may find this information - everything I have found so far is a little inconclusive or potentially out of date. Many thanks in advance Neil
