RE: W3C/POWDER (content labelling) stakeholder event in Santa Clara California, 16 September

Dear Allen:
I am interested in hearing about the Powder effort and how it relates to the
accessibility perspective. Is your meeting on the 16th open for me to
attend? I am in the San Francisco bay area.

Best regards,
Cynthia Waddell

Subject: W3C/POWDER (content labelling) stakeholder event in Santa Clara
California, 16 September

Dear WAI Interest Group Participants,

On 16 September, at Yahoo!'s Mission College Campus, Santa Clara,
California, USA: Introduction to the Protocol for Web Description
Resources. Phil Archer, Matt Womer, and others will be presenting at
"POWDER: More of what you want, when you want it."

This event is of interest from the accessibility perspective. POWDER is
an XML and RDF based language for creating documents that describe other
resources on the Web. POWDER labels can be processed by automated
agents, browsers, and search engines. They are used to label online
content for reliability, child protection, mobileOK-ness, and
accessibility among other aspects. There are some examples in the Powder
use cases document [1].

The event will also include a look at the Quatro Platform that
identifies and authenticates trustmarks defined using POWDER. Draft
agenda is online [2].

Separately, the POWDER Working Group has made its Last Call announcement
on three documents and has published drafts of its Primer and test
Suite. Full details on the WG homepage [3].
