WAI at ICCHP 7-11 July 2008

Dear WAI Interest Group Participants,

ICCHP 2008, International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs, will be 7-11 July in Linz, Austria. We invite those of you who are attending the conference to join WAI staff at the sessions below. Information about the conference is available from:
 http://www.icchp.org/programme

* 9 July - "Web Accessibility 2.0" with Shadi Abou-Zahra, Michael Cooper, and Andrew Arch - an informal discussion of accessibility issues in the so-called "Web 2.0". Like a BarCamp <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp>, anyone is welcome to give a short presentation about something they are currently working on, have heard of, or are interested in learning more about. Questions and discussion are encouraged in this interactive session designed for exchange between the participants.

* 10 July - "Web Accessibility for Older Users" presented by Andrew Arch

* 11 July - "Bringing Accessibility to Today's Web" keynote by Michael Cooper - reviews current Web accessibility challenges and discusses the role of W3C standards in providing solutions. It focuses on the content and status of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, which are technology-neutral guidelines for content authoring, and the Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite (WAI-ARIA), which provides semantics for complex or interactive content.

* 11 July - "Mainstreaming Accessibility at a Global Level" panel with Shadi Abou-Zahra

Another presentation that week will be in German:
* 7 July, "Senioren, Mobile Surfer und andere Trends" (Seniors, Mobile Surfers and other Trends) presented by Shadi Abou-Zahra, at the IKT Forum 2008

There will be several other presentations related to Web accessibility at the conference, which can be found by searching the ICCHP website: www.icchp.org

Regards,
Shawn
