About complex tables (id´s, headers)

Hi, i´m web developer. I need to do some large complex tables (multiple headers)
with subtotals and totals. My question is:

¿in the totals cells need I to specify the relation with the others cells throw
headers? In the example of the W3C of the "San Antonio Seattle Table" don´t do
this.
