> "Use the alt attribute to describe the function of each visual element" As someone else pointed out, rather briefly, "describe" is wrong. What should go into alt is a functional equivalent of the graphic in the context of the document - it should not, for example, describe irrelevant visual detail. Basically, someone reading only the text should hardly be aware that there was a graphic there.
