QT will display a qttext file that is referenced in a qt smil file just fine. When you output for QT from MAGpie, you get a smil file and a qttext file, and when placed in the same directory as the base media you get captions (or more precisely, you get text - whether that text is captions or not is up to the user of MAGpie).
