Here is a bit of internal research about Flash Accessibility from the 
company where I work:

The document is dated October 2002.  At that time it appeared to us 
that the new accessibility features of Flash MX only worked with a 
very restricted set of screenreaders, browers, Flash plug-ins, and 
operating systems.  I welcome feedback.
