Hi everyone, A quick follow-up to answer a couple of questions that came in. * If your sub-group is meeting, please do use that time to go through the provisions covered by your sub-group. * This is a new draft, not a final draft. There are still many iterations to go. Feel free to suggest moving things, re-wording, or note concerns that content has been lost. The aim of the new draft was to bring together and harmonise the work from the sub-groups, but it is possible that a few things may have been lost in that process. -Alastair From: Alastair Campbell <alastair.campbell@thisisgain.com> Date: Thursday, 9 October 2025 at 13:33 To: WCAG list <w3c-wai-gl@w3.org> Subject: WCAG 3 provision testing Hi everyone, Just to recap what we went through in the meeting, this is an outline of the task set for the AG members. The editors (and some sub-groups leads) worked through the requirements and assertions, that can be viewed in one place in this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Szzc87DUdZNlDUrjEEhU2HnoYLSIzfpiQbmFSghL5NI/edit?tab=t.0 This exercise is for individuals to evaluate the content. Purpose of this exercise * Primary purpose: Engage deeply with the new draft of WCAG3 (updated in early October by the AG editors). * Do you understand the requirements and assertions? * Do the tests and methods seem doable? * If the answer to either of these questions is “no,” add a note in Column I in the spreadsheet. * Secondary purpose: * Review the content as a subgroup and consider whether any changes made by editors need to be revised. * Think about whether anything essential is missing from each set of guidelines. * If either of the above is the case, put a comment in the “Notes” Column and/or the WCAG 3 Guidelines Google Doc<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Szzc87DUdZNlDUrjEEhU2HnoYLSIzfpiQbmFSghL5NI/edit?usp=sharing> What to do 1. In this folder<https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/120Tixmfrc3dxn3ogT2N3pWltgyQlgfZr>, make a copy of <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vFgaAY7F1lIuQX8z2O4BrXdKC1Y-cfnda8EESct6iho/edit?gid=0#gid=0> WCAG3 guidelines testing sheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vFgaAY7F1lIuQX8z2O4BrXdKC1Y-cfnda8EESct6iho/edit?gid=0#gid=0>. 2. Add your name to the new copy. (Put a hyphen and your first name at the end of the file name, such as "WCAG3 guidelines testing sheet - Julie.") 3. Prioritize the section[s] of the spreadsheet that your subgroup has worked on. (If you have time to go through more or all of the spreadsheet, great!) 4. Think about a website you know well as you’re going through the spreadsheet. 5. In each row's Column H, mark whether the website/app/digital thing you're thinking about would pass or fail for that row's requirement or assertion. Use "N/A" if the requirement or assertion does not apply. For example, if the site has no videos, the requirements about videos would not apply. 6. Add notes in Notes Column about any feedback you think is important, such as “hard to understand,” “impossible to implement,” etc. 7. Talk about the changes with your subgroup. If you think something essential is missing from a set of guidelines or if changes lost meaning that is important, add a margin comment to the google doc in Column C. If you have direct comments on the text, that can also be added to the document<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Szzc87DUdZNlDUrjEEhU2HnoYLSIzfpiQbmFSghL5NI/edit?tab=t.0> if you find that easier. If you would rather not share your comments with the group, you can download the spreadsheet, fill it in and email the chairs (group-ag-chairs@w3.org<mailto:group-ag-chairs@w3.org>) Timeline * Monday, October 13th, by end of day: Finish going through the rows your subgroup worked on. * Friday, October 17th, by end of day: Finish going through any other parts of the spreadsheet that you have time to get through. The AG chairs estimate it will take people 4 hours to go through the whole thing.
