Re: CFC - Adding errata and updating understanding documents for WCAG 2.0 (take 2)

AG Working Group members,



As we have received substantially positive feedback leading up to this CfC and one objection (https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-gl/2023JulSep/0265.html), this CfC is agreed on as a consensus opinion of the working group.



The objection was on the location of the notes in the 2.0 understanding document. As those are informative, we can adjust those outside of the CFC process, and there is an issue raised here: https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/3359



There was also a query on the wording of the errata, but we think it is correct (or at least not incorrect). The errata is a slightly odd process, you have to imagine that the errata is include in the spec, so they generally speak in past tense about things being added/removed. Some use past tense (e.g. errata 1, 4, 5), some speak about how it should be.

Call For Consensus — ends Thursday August 24th at 17:00 Boston time.



This call is to add a new errata and update the understanding document for WCAG 2.0.  This will address the removal of parsing to bring WCAG 2.0 more in line with WCAG 2.1 and 2.2.

The proposed updates are in the attachments.

  *   Errata: See number 13 under Editorial Errata (the notes are included in the errata page).
  *   Understanding Document: The new notes are at the top of the Intent section.

Because of changes to technology since WCAG 2.0 was published we cannot provide a diff.
