RE: CFC - Approve COGA Work Statement

Hi Rachael,

Apologies if I missed the survey for this – your previous message to the group [1] indicated that a survey would be coming but I’m not able to find that survey. So, please disregard my suggestions if I missed the commenting period.

My suggestion on the Work Statement would be to pull up the deliverables described in section called “Approach” into their own section. This would make them easier to find, and make the Work Statement clearer. I also suggest adding milestones and approximate timelines for achieving these milestones and completing the deliverables. It would also be very helpful to add links to existing drafts, backlogs, requirements analysis, and such, to give a better understanding of the work to be done. For example, which updates do you plan for Making Content Usable? Also, is there an initial set of guideline proposals, even if just rough ideas, that you plan to bring into Silver TF and WCAG 3 discussions?

Side note: Some of the bullets in the “Approach” section read to me more like scope of work and others more like deliverables. For example, the bullet “Co-creating guidelines with the Silver TF for WCAG 3.0” is repeated in the list of deliverables below, which indicates that it is more of a deliverable than approach description. Also “Building a use case repository …” and “Documenting business cases …” sound to me like outputs, even if interim milestones.

Best,
  Shadi

Call For Consensus — ends Wednesday, March 23 at 12:00pm Boston time.

This is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to the Accessibility Guidelines Working Group proposing adoption of an updated Work
Statement for our Cognitive and Learning Disabilities (COGA) Task Force.

The proposed new Work Statement is available at the following link:

https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/coga/wiki/DRAFT:_COGA_TF_Work_Statement_2022-2024

This update has been developed over recent months to update the original COGA Work Statement, now almost a decade old. We received no comments back when we emailed a request for review.

If you have concerns about this proposed consensus position that have not been discussed already and feel that those concerns result in you “not being able to live with” this decision, please let the group know before the CfC deadline.

As COGA is a joint Task Force of APA and of the Accessible Guidelines Working Group (AGWG), approval of both groups is required to adopt this updated Work Statement for COGA. Both APA and AG are holding a Call For Consensus on this question. If you are a member of both groups, please respond to both CFCs.

Kind regards,

Rachael
