Under “persistent”, in “the user dismisses it” and “its information is no longer valid”, I would interpret “it” as referring to “the additional content” rather than to “the hover or focus trigger”. However, the text could easily be construed the other way. Perhaps the first “it” should be replaced by “the additional content”.
