Forwarding my +1 for Character key shortcuts to the list -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Re: Wrapping up CFC Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2017 09:53:05 -0500 From: Kim Patch <kim@redstartsystems.com> Reply-To: kim@redstartsystems.com Organization: Redstart Systems To: Andrew Kirkpatrick <akirkpat@adobe.com> CC: Joshue O Connor <josh@interaccess.ie>, Michael Cooper <cooper@w3.org>, Kathy Wahlbin <kathy@interactiveaccessibility.com> Hi Andrew, I think we are on the same page functionally, just thinking about this differently. (For practical purposes I still don't think this is an instance of single character key shortcut because you have to press another key to get to the box, and because you have to press multiple keys to do this so it doesn't cause a problem. I see what you are saying about the shortcut being different for a second instance, but the second instance is not independent, you can't choose Zaire and then also choose another country, so I'd argue that the original tab is in a practical sense part of the shortcut for any change of choice. If the focus is set programmatically as long I remain in that focus it doesn't cause a problem. So from a practical sense I would not want to turn that shortcut off. But in the end if this SC is understood as worded, developers will do the right thing.) So, having said that, I think the text is okay, just overly complicated. I'm not going to stand in the way of letting it go through like it is. I can live with it, and I generally think it's good. +1 Cheers, Kim On 11/15/2017 8:52 AM, Andrew Kirkpatrick wrote: > > Kim, > > Yours is the only comment against the CFC on Character Key Shortcuts, > and I would like to resolve it. > > My take on your objection is that I don’t think that you are reading > the SC text correctly. > > If you are comfortable with allowing single character key shortcuts > for focused components then I believe that the SC text is ok.
