RE: What is the role of the Task Forces now that the SCs have been submitted?

I agree but we need to find a planned way of doing this so that everyone is given a chance to critique the SCs before we jump in and add more ideas

I'd posit the role is to explain the rationale for the SCs when questioned and work with the rest of the WCAG group to tweak where required based on the input and feedback.
