Oh, that's helpful. I wasn't aware of that. I think it would be best if there was a setting in browsers to prevent auto-play, but I don't know if anyone is working on that feature.

It seems to me that Mute, though helpful, isn't the same thing as preventing autoplay. There are times when I may want to postpone, rather than mute, audio or video. Could an easy-to-discover method be added to Techniques? We already cover user control over media in WCAG 2.0.    [Jason]The Firefox version, at least, acts as a pause control. Chrome and Safari also support a mute feature, but I haven’t yet found the keyboard commands for them, if they exist. I’m searching the Web now…
