Recent discussion of ARIA landmark roles has concentrated on their undeniable value to screen reader users. However, it would also be interesting and relevant to know whether certain users with learning and cognitive disabilities would benefit significantly from a tool (hypothetical, as far as I know) for temporarily hiding and revealing structural components of a Web page. For example, it could display only the "main" content, excluding everything with roles of banner, complementary, navigation, etc. until the user chooses to reveal them. It could do likewise if the user wishes to focus on, for instance, the navigational component while hiding everything else. What experience, if any, has accumulated in this area? ________________________________ This e-mail and any files transmitted with it may contain privileged or confidential information.
