Updated Decision Policy

WCAG’ers -

As many of you know from your comments on the survey and from the discussion that started with the Working Group months ago and that we concluded on the call this past Tuesday (9/15), the WCAG WG has agreed to a new Decision Policy.

We hope that some of the positive changes that may come out of this policy change will include a greater ability to perform asynchronous work and arrive at decisions of the group. This change may enable the group to do more work with fewer teleconference calls and certainly will allow better participation by group members who are located in areas of the world where an 11am Eastern US time zone teleconference is a barrier to regular attendance.

The new Decision Policy implements a Call for Consensus process which will be conducted using this email list. The Call may follow discussion on a survey, a teleconference, the list, github issues, or a combination of these or other recognized channels for WG communication. The Working Group will no longer make final resolutions on the teleconferences but resolutions made among participants on a call may be used as the basis for a Call.

Calls will be indicated in the subject line with [CfC], so please be on the lookout for these messages!

There are more details in the Decision Policy itself that we encourage members to read and understand: http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/decision-policy

AWK
