I think the phrase "keyboard accessibility remains as important as ever” is very good and needed. Some people think that because very able people who are blind can use an iPhone - that keyboard access is not as important. This is part of the belief that keyboard access was for people who were blind. It is for many more types of disability - and is still critical for people who are blind and have other disabilities.
So I think that phrase should be preserved — but I agree with you that it should be also augmented with something concrete like “… and is required by WCAG 2.0. "
